Ash was initially rescued by a group who has been helping with the animals at the Katy Trailer Park after he was attacked by 2 dogs.  They initially thought they were going to have to euthanize him but once the vet started to examine him, they discovered what a lucky kitty he was.  His right back leg is broken but it looks as if it can be set with pins. He has some scrapes on the outside of his right leg and a puncture right above where his right leg starts on his lower abdomen.  He also has a slight URI.  They neutered him and splinted his leg and he is currently on pain meds and antibiotics and getting lots of TLC! But surgery is in his future.

Pictures of Ash can be found on his webpage at http://www.purrpawsrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=4932821

An email went out from BARC about a cat that had been shot thru with an arrow.  One of our volunteers picked him up in the evening, and he has been taken to one of the vet clinics that we work with to have the arrow removed.  We are hoping that there is no serious internal damage from the arrow.

Apparently, Cupid (named by BARC) had been roaming around his neighborhood for 3 days with the arrow in place.  One of the veterinary technicians at the clinic said that the arrow is an archery arrow.  So someone who is learning with a bow and arrow? Or someone who is proficient with a bow and arrow?  Why or who?  No one knows.

Cupid is recuperating at Brittmoore Animal Hospital today after having the arrow removed successfully.  Amazing enough is that nothing major was damaged, except for a hole thru a shoulder blade.  But, considering where the arrow was going across, it could have been a whole different story.

Cupid is out of the hospital!  With the arrow going where it went, and not really causing much damage (other than to the muscles it went thru and the shoulder blade) comparatively, the clinic released Cupid back to his foster mom.

He is back at his foster mom's house, and will be closely watched to make sure that the hole going from side to side heals correctly.

Update on Alonzo:  Unfortunately, Alonzo has lost his fight with mammary cancer.  He passed away in his home overnight between Saturday, October 15th to Sunday, October 16th.  We are sorry to have lost Alonzo, but happy to say that he at least was loved and cared for in the short time he was with us.

Alonzo is an extremely affectionate boy often waking his foster mom with kisses on her cheek in the morning. He was turned into Houston Animal Control by his owner with a ruptured abscess on his back hind leg which was treated upon intake.

Alonzo went to the vet this week after his foster mom discovered a lump inside his groin area. A tumor has formed on one of his mammary glands which needs to be removed and have a histopathy done to determine if further treatment is necessary. This needs to be done as quickly as possible. Please help us raise the funds needed to pay to get this sweet boy the care he needs, you can donate at Alonzo's ChipInPage.  You can read more about Alonzo on his web page.
